A well-known manufacturer of accessories for hot shoe flash units, LumiQuest, has recently launched an exchange program to replace their FXtra gel holders that are currently in the field. The reason for the replacement is that many FXtra owners were unsatisfied with the tight fit of the holder on larger flash guns, such as Canon Speedlite 580EX II or Nikon Speedlight SB-900. The relatively big heads of these flashes make it difficult to use FXtra on them.
The images below show how the old and new LumiQuest FXtra gel holders fit onto Canon 580EX II flash. The old version is on the left, whereas the new design is on the right.

Please note that the older version of FXtra does fit the larger flash heads, but not as comfortably as the new one. The newer revision wraps around a big flash head easier, which should satisfy all the users.
LumiQuest achieved the improvement by extending the inner part of the holder by about a quarter of an inch (6mm). The following image shows the difference.

The change in the design does not affect any other flashes: FXtra still works with all the smaller flash heads.
